The New Zealand Indian Senior Citizens Association is an incorporated Society and a registered Charity organization.
It came into being in the mid -1980’s to meet the pressing social and cultural needs of lonely older people of Indian descent then living in New Zealand.
Initially, a few elderly persons used to meet each other at family get-togethers. Gradually, these meetings took the form of a nucleus of a small community group. It became an incorporated society in 1995 and got registered as a charity under the Charities Act of 2005.
